A subsidiary of Ormat Technologies, Inc. has signed a 20-year power purchase agreement (PPA) with Nevada Power Company (a subsidiary of NV Energy, Inc.) to purchase 30 megawatts (MW) from the McGinness Hills Geothermal project, which is currently under construction. The PPA is subject to various approvals including the approval of the Public Utilities Commission of Nevada and is projected to come on line in 2012.
December 2009: SunPower Completes 1-Megawatt Solar Power System At Agilent Technologies Headquarters
SunPower Corp., a Silicon Valley-based manufacturer of high-efficiency solar cells, solar panels and solar systems, has completed a 1-megawatt solar power rooftop system on three buildings at Agilent's headquarters in Santa Clara, California. This is SunPower's second project with Agilent, following the design and installation of a 1-megawatt solar tracking system at Agilent's Santa Rosa, California, campus last year. Agilent expects to save $3.5 million in energy costs in the first 10 years of operation.
